Tirana: Info day on the FP7 program of the European Union

On 23 November 2010, under the special attention of the Deputy Minister for Innovation and Information Technology and Communication Mr.Visho Ajazi and with the support by WINS-ICT, an INFO DAY on the FP 7 Program of the European Union was held in Tirana, Albania. At the activity were invited Mr. Myqerem Tafaj  Minister of Education and Sciences, Mr.Ylli Pango  Director of the Research, Technology and Innovation Agency(AKIT),as well as representatives from the University of Tirana, Faculty of Technological Information, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Economy, and other researchers from the field of TIC, in total the activity was attended by more than 50 people.

The aim of this info day was to inform the Albanian researchers with the possibilities, criteria’s and the advantages to participate in the PF7 Program. Therefore information regarding the FP7 Program was given to all the participants by emphasizing that FP7 Program is the main financial instrument, and through it, EU is supporting activities in the field of research and development, and covering all the science disciplines, through 4 sub programs (Collaboration, Ideas, Human Resources, and Research Capacities). FP7 it is a program proposed from the European Commission and approved from the Council of Europe and the European Parliament.
The role of the Ministry of Education and Science of Albania (MES) in this process was emphasized as well by explaining that she is the main institution to design the policies and the legislation for the development of the activities on research –and science within the country, in compliance with the objectives mentioned at the National Strategy of Science, Technology and Innovation 2009 – 2015. Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Asotiation of the Republic of Albania in the PF7 Program (2007 – 2013), MES is determining the network of the local Coordinators of the FP7 and it is covering the local financial contribution for participation in this program.
While, the Mission of the Agency for Research, Technology and Innovation, it is to support, monitor and evaluate  the programs and projects in the field of science, technology and innovation at a national level.
